Meeting with clients via Telehealth

Inclusive and Welcoming to ALL
The main focus of my practice is working with clients one on one. During treatment we process issues and practice strategies designed to teach you coping skills that can be used for the current situation and for situations should they arise in the future.

As your counselor, my goal would be to facilitate your growth and development in ways that foster your interest and welfare and to promote formation of healthy relationships.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy is founded on the basis that our emotional well-being is interwoven with our physical state. The process involves a technique called bilateral stimulation during which a therapist will guide a client through eye movements, tones, or taps in order to move a memory that has been incorrectly stored to a more functional part of the brain.

During trauma, our brain processes and stores memories incorrectly. This incorrect storage can lead to past memories feeling very present. EMDR therapy corrects this so that the painful memories associated with the trauma lose their charge. People can begin reacting to stimuli in the present without interference from the past.
I have a special interest in helping people who are grieving the loss of their animal companions. Losing our companion animals can be very difficult. They are members of our family, and we often spend a great deal of time with them.
It is absolutely normal to have intense feelings of grief when our pet dies. It is a unique, sometimes confusing experience, frequently complicated by being in the position of making end-of-life decisions for them. There are so many layers of emotions to sort through with this special kind of loss.
Life Transitions
Life is full of transitions. Many times these transitions can have a variety of positive and negative impacts on our lives. Each of us will have some level of significant life change every few years.

Counseling is an excellent tool to use to help you evaluate and manage changes in your life.

Adjusting to College Life
Attending college is often one of the first major transitionsfor young adults. Many students are excited to take on the new experiences of campus life, while others feel apprehensive about making this change.
Regardless of your outlook regarding college life, you may benefit from talking with a counselor to help you out with the adjustment.
